During its transformation, this one began to resemble a rockpool revealed by a retreating tide. Islands of turquoise verdigris gathered across the surface, surrounded by warm copper tones and intricate patterns created by chemistry, time and chance. Looking closely, The Copperologist was reminded of happy childhood afternoons exploring miniature worlds in tiny pools hidden along the Welsh shoreline.

Like all worthwhile discoveries, the effect was entirely unplanned. Chemistry, heat, patience and chance collaborated to create something that could never be recreated exactly.

This one-of-a-kind copper art necklace was preserved at precisely the right moment, before the surface continued its transformation and became something else entirely.
