I work with the pure copper as it develops its own colours, textures and formations over time with the assistance of flame, natural chemicals and verdigris growth. Each piece of copper is selected because it has revealed something unusual, beautiful or unexpected. Once a copper piece has reached a moment worth preserving, it is sealed between glass and stainless steel, effectively freezing it in time. Every pendant is genuinely one of a kind. Once a copper pendant is collected it is permanently gone from the archive. You will be the only person in the world to own that particular one.

Yes. The pendant photographed on the product pages is the actual pendant you will receive. There are no duplicates, substitutions or reproductions. However, photographing these pendants is not always straightforward. The curved glass dome creates a myriad of reflections, and the colours and patterns often reveal different aspects of themselves as the pendant moves through different light sources. A pendant that appears predominantly turquoise from one angle may reveal copper, gold or deeper tones from another. To help you get a true sense of the colour ranges of each piece, I provide multiple photographs and a video showing how it glints, catches the light and changes as it is viewed from different angles.

Each copper pendant is presented in a velvet-lined miniature wooden collector's drawer and accompanied by its own unique provenance card from the Copperologist archive. Together they form a complete archival record of your discovery, ready to become a treasured addition to your own collection or an unforgettable gift for someone else's.

Fortunately, my pendants are not especially demanding creatures. To keep your treasure looking its best, a gentle rub with a soft microfibre cloth will restore the familiar glint. You should keep your pendant away from exposure to water or sweat. Swimming, bathing and showering together are generally discouraged. Treat your copper pendant necklace with reasonable care and it should continue its service in your collection for a long time to come.

No. The entire point is that copper is stubbornly independent and will turn out however it chooses. I can influence the process, but I cannot instruct copper to recreate a particular pattern, colour or formation on command. In other words, I couldn't make another one exactly like yours even if I wanted to. Which is rather the point.

It leaves the archive and joins a private collection. Its catalogue record remains, but the pendant itself is permanently retired.

Collections are released in groups of twelve particularly extraordinary specimens. Once a collection is complete, it is closed permanently and archived.
