During its transformation, this one developed rose reds, burnished amber tones and vivid turquoise verdigris along its lower edge. Together they create the impression of mineral-rich water flowing through ancient rock, leaving traces of colour behind as it passes.

The Copperologist was reminded of rust-coloured streams, weathered stone and the unexpected colours found where water and metal meet over long periods of time. Like all worthwhile discoveries, the effect was entirely unplanned. Chemistry, heat, patience and chance collaborated to create something that could never be recreated exactly.

This one-of-a-kind copper art necklace was preserved at precisely the right moment, before the surface continued its transformation and became something else entirely.
