Some specimens arrive with a clear sense of place.

During its transformation, this one began to resemble the meeting of sea and shore. A band of vivid turquoise verdigris gathered along the lower edge while warm copper and gold tones emerged above it, creating the impression of sunlight striking water on a bright morning.

The Copperologist was reminded of harbours, estuaries and weathered coastlines; places where land, water and time are constantly reshaping one another. Like all worthwhile discoveries, the effect was entirely unplanned. Chemistry, heat, patience and chance collaborated to create something that could never be recreated exactly.

This one-of-a-kind copper art necklace was preserved at precisely the right moment, before the surface continued its transformation and became something else entirely.
