During its transformation, this one developed layers of warm copper, soft gold and vivid turquoise verdigris that appear to drift across the surface like fragments carried by a changing tide. Shapes emerge and disappear depending on the light, revealing new details each time it is viewed.

The Copperologist was reminded of shoreline discoveries left behind after the sea retreats; fragments, traces and unexpected treasures revealed for only a short time before being reclaimed once more. Like all worthwhile discoveries, the effect was entirely unplanned. Chemistry, heat, patience and chance collaborated to create something that could never be recreated exactly.

This one-of-a-kind copper art necklace was preserved at precisely the right moment, before the surface continued its transformation and became something else entirely.
