Some specimens seem to belong to a different world entirely.

During its transformation, this one developed a luminous field of gold and copper interrupted by a series of dark circular forms. Along the lower edge, vivid turquoise verdigris gathered like the shoreline of an unfamiliar landscape. Together, the colours and markings created the impression of distant moons suspended above a horizon yet to be charted.

The Copperologist was reminded of old astronomical records and observatory archives; collections of sketches, notes and observations made by curious minds attempting to understand the mysteries beyond the known world. As the pendant catches the light, subtle metallic details emerge across its surface, creating the impression of celestial bodies appearing briefly through shifting clouds. Like all worthwhile discoveries, the effect was entirely unplanned. Chemistry, heat, patience and chance collaborated to create something that could never be recreated exactly.

This one-of-a-kind copper art necklace was preserved at precisely the right moment, before the surface continued its transformation and became something else entirely.
